Salman Khan is a superstar and he has the biggest heart in the industry. His popularity is ever growing and so much so that after he was invited to be a part of Academy Awards voting panel among other Bollywood celebs, he has now been bestowed with an award by UK House of Commons for outstanding achievement for global diversity.
The man who runs the NGO Being Human was quoted as saying by Indian Express, “Thank you for the respect and honour you have given me. My father would have never thought… But the amount of respect you guys have given me, thank you so much for it.”
Well, Pahlaj Nihalani’s Julie 2 trailer is out! The film that features southern sensation Raai Laxmi in the lead role, marks her full fledged Bollywood debut with this one. The movie shoot kickstarted last year and is all set to release on October 6, 2017. The movie was originally supposed to release on August 12, 2016. Now that the trailer is out, here’s what you will see…
What’s it about
The film showcases the journey of a Julie a najayaz (illegitimate) small town girl, who scales success in the entertainment business. The film has a lot of bold scenes and throws light on casting couch in the industry. There is also a murder mystery involved in the film. Raai Laxmi plays the female lead and the cast includes Ravi Kishen, Nishikant Kamant, Pankaj Tripathy, Rati Agnihotri, Aditya Srivastava and so on. The film has been produced and directed by Deepak Shrivastava and has been presented by Pahlaj Nihalani. Looks like someone is all set to shed their sanskari image!
Raai Laxmi sets the temperatures soaring with her bold scenes in the film. The actress pulls off a Vidya Balan from The Dirty Picture in a few scenes but looks super hot in a one piece bikini. The plot of the film is pretty much out there and we know what to expect from the film. The makers have tried to keep it as realistic as possible.
It was bad enough that Pahlaj Nihalani decided to shed his sanskari image but it’s worse that he decided to do it this way. There are a few scenes in the trailer that are absolutely cringe-worthy. Even men wouldn’t approve of it. It looks like just another low budget film with a plot that holds no mystery or curiosity. The reason the audience will judge the trailer more than anything is because of Nihalani’s drama and reputation in the past.
Check out the trailer right here.

BAADSHAHO STORY: Emergency has been declared in India. Maharani Gitanjali(Ileana) from one of Rajasthan’s princely states has already lost her privy purse. Now, she fears that she will lose the last treasure chest of gold which has been forcibly taken away from her. So she asks her trusted lieutenant, Bhawani (Ajay) to step in and plan a heist.
BAADSHAHO REVIEW: On paper, Baadshaho may have had the merit of a Hollywood heist thriller like Ocean’s Eleven. This would seem like why Ajay Devgn agreed to be a part of this multi-starrer– that attempts to make outlaws look like Robin Hood. However good intention is defeated, when the execution offers zero novelty.
Anyway, mastermind, Bhawani, who is madly in love with Gitanjali promises her that he will win her pot of gold back. So he lovingly handpicks his crew—a lock picker, Tikla(Sanjay), a daredevil all-rounder, Daliya(Emraan), a `I-bite-bullets-for-breakfast’ kinda gal, Sanjana(Esha) who along with him, form the quartet that sets out to outsmart the faujis taking the armoured truck from Rajasthan to Delhi. It’s the haraami v/s army clash.
The highlight of the film is the chase that ensues soon after Seher(Vidyut), an army officer alights from the train. You so wish that the film had maintained the same breakneck speed all through, but alas!
For a heist-thriller to work, the moves of the rural bandits should have been more calculated and precise. Instead, here you have buffoonery. Everyone is mouthing signature lines trying to constantly reiterate how “bad-ass” they are. However, if you’re in the mood, indulge them– these are Bollywood’s paisa-pheko, dialogue-suno moments.
Ajay burns the screen with his searing intensity; Ileana passes muster as the Maharani with hidden facets; Emraan’s takeaway is that he gets to shimmy with Sunny Leone and Vidyut gets an `interesting’ introduction.
Sunita Radia’s lens captures the expanse of the desert deftly showing scale. Certain shots even stay frozen in your memory. The song Mere Rashke Qamar rekindles the magic of the voices of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. If you’re an action junkie, this could be your weekend big-ticket ride.
HBO is in a bad way – they’ve been hit by relentless leaks of GoT episodes week after week, to the point that I’m guessing they’ve just given in to grim resignation that each episode is going to get released before its official date. And that’s almost exactly what happened with the season finale that’s set to come out next week.
These guys aren’t playing around. We don’t know who has access to this information, and when it might be released, so be ready!
Santoshi asks Raman (Karan Patel) to give the award to Mrs. Khatri and not Shagun (Anita Hassanandani). Raman apologizes to Shagun. A furious Shagun asks him to back off. Mr. Bhalla and everyone else applaud for Santoshi. Shagun storms out of the venue. Raman scolds Santoshi for ruining his launch. Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi) stops Shagun and apologizes to her. Shagun asks her to shut up and says she knows she has done all this deliberately. She breaks all her relations with Ishita and asks her not to show her face again. Ishita asks Mani to calm her down. He says this time she has crossed all limits and leaves. Ishita gets scared.
Raman scolds Santoshi for ruining everything. He tells her that he doesn’t care what Shagun has done because his launch was more important for him. Ishita comes there and asks him to calm down. She tells Madhu and Santoshi that they should not have went on the stage like this. She tells them that the entire media was present there and they should not have insulted Shangun like this. She reminds them that she is Aaliya’s mother and a part of their family now.Santoshi feels bad to see Ishita thinking about her daughter-in-law Aaliya and not about them. Santoshi says she would not have been saying all this if she would have treated her like a daughter-in-law and not her daughter. Raman asks her to shut up and not create a scene.
Aadi wakes up and gets happy to see that his rashes have reduced. He gets happy to see an apologogy letter with a champaigne. He receives 20 messages from Nikhil and gets furious. Aaliya enters the room and gets shocked to see the chaimpaigne bottle in pieces. She asks Aadi why did he do all this. He shows her all the messages and tells her that Nikhil has uploaded his pictures on social media. Mihika apologizes to everyone for all the drama and tells them that while it’s true it’s Mrs. Khatri who saved the girls’ lives, it was Shagun Arora who shifted the girls from their house to a rehabilitation centre at first place. Santoshi and Madhu get shocked. Raman gets angry. Mihika asks both Shagun and Mrs. Khatri to come on the stage and accept the award. Kiran brings Shagun back on stage, Ishita gets surprised.
Mihika apologizes to Shagun on her family’s behalf. Raman felicitates both Shagun and Mrs. Khatri. Raman whispers in Mihika’s ears and asks her to announce a donation of 2 crores for the NGO. Mihika calls Kiran on the stage and tells everyone that it was her who solved the problem. Ishita gets happy. Roshni sees Ruhi in tension and asks her what’s the matter. Aadi shouts on Aaliya and says he knows Nikhil is doing all this because he scretely likes Aaliya. Aaliya tells him that the pictures have been uploaded by her, by mistake. Ruhi tells Roshni that Riya enjoys bullying everyone because she is herself very sad in her life. Roshni tells Ruhi that maybe she just wants some attention and love. Ruhi thanks her.
Aaliya tells Aadi that she had taken his photographs to send to the doctors but bymistake they got uploaded. She says she will delete them right now. Aadi tells her that he knows she is lying to save Nikhil because she still loves him. She gets upset and asks him to mind his words. She admits that she had a crush on Nikhil during college days but she only loves him, now. Aadi says he is not blind, he can see how she forgets the world when she is with Nikhil. Aaliya says she is leaving him forever. Aadi says she must leaves because he knows she must be regretting marrying him. She says he is right, she would have been more happy if she would have married Nikhil. She says she should have never got married to him as he doesn’t trust her. Nihil gets up and slaps her. Aaliya gets shocked and leaves.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story released this Friday and has been quite successful in drawing the audiences to the theatres. The movie tells us about some of the untold stories from Dhoni’s life and one of them is about Dhoni’s iconic helicopter shot.
The shot has become synonymous with Dhoni but very few of us knew that Dhoni’s signature shot was not his own invention. The shot was called Thappad Shot back then and MSD learnt it from his friend, Santosh Lal.
Santosh Lal was Dhoni’s childhood friend and they spent a lot of time together traveling to different states for cricket tournaments. While speaking to The Indian Express, another friend of Santosh Lal, Nishant Dayal said:
He and Dhoni were the best of friends since childhood. They would play tennis ball games endlessly. They both worked for Railways. Santosh was fearless as a batsman. Over the years, Dhoni may have patented the “helicopter shot” but growing up, there was someone who was better at it. Dhoni always admired his batting style. And Santosh taught him to play the helicopter shot,” adds Dayal.
Even after Dhoni became a star, he remained friends with Santosh who went on to play Ranji cricket. But unfortunately, he succumbed to pancreatitis at the age of 32. Dhoni had arranged an air ambulance for his ailing friend to shift him to a Delhi hospital, but it all went in vain.
Thank you, Santosh Lal, for teaching MSD the helicopter shot so that he could entertain us with so many picture-perfect finishing shots.
Indian cricketer MS Dhoni’s biopic, MS Dhoni – The Untold Story released all over India on the 30th of September to an absolutely overwhelming response from all corners. The biopic depicting the Indian Cricket Team’s captain’s journey from a school kid from a small town in Jharkhand (Then Bihar) to leading the Indian team to a world cup win has had audiences enthralled.
Screens all over the country were pre-booked as fans were desperate to get the first glimpse of the much-awaited Neeraj Pandey directed film. On day 1, the film raked in a massive 21.3 crores, way more than any biopic has ever earned in Bollywood history.
In further good news for the producers, the movie is the second highest grossing film on day 1 in 2016, bettering the likes of Housefull 3 and Shah Rukh Khan’s fan. The only movie to have done better than MS Dhoni – The Untold Story so far this year is Salman Khan’s Sultan.
The movie starts out with a scene from the Wankhede Stadium with the crowd expecting Yuvraj Singh to walk in after the departure of Virat Kohli, only for MS Dhoni to intervene and take things into his own hands by walking in at #5. As the Wankhede crowd erupts with chants of ‘Dhoni Dhoni’, we immediately cut to Dhoni’s school days and the story builds from there.
The director perfectly captures his growth from a kid who had just had his first associations with the game to a young man, who had to juggle between being a Ticket Collector for the Railways and trying to make a break in the world of sport.
The film also divulges details of Dhoni’s personal life, describing in detail the women in his life and the relationships he shared with them. The film builds towards the climax of the film, which is also the first scene, the Wankhede Stadium, with Dhoni walking out with the team in trouble.
All-in-all, it made for fantastic viewing and the audience were gripped through the course of the 3-hour rollercoaster.
As positive reviews pour in from all corners, the interest in the movie is only going to build and full houses are expected across the country in the days and weeks to come.
They would still have a long way to go to eclipse Sultan as the highest-grossing film of the year. In all, Sultan raked in an astounding 584 crores while the second highest grossing film of the year has been superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali.
If you have seen the movie already, you are sure to have revelled in the sheer delight of recalling the man behind arguably India’s greatest moment on the grandest stage. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? MS Dhoni – The Untold Story is a delight.
