1. Panda
Launch Date: February 24, 2011
Effects: Duplicate Content, Low Content Strength, Keyword Stuffing, User Generated Spam.
The main aim behind this Google algorithm update was to rank high-quality sites up in SERP and reduce ranking for websites with low-quality content. Content duplication from good websites is the main factor responsible for the low-quality sites. Initially, Panda was a filter rather than part of Google ranking. But in January 2016, it is officially integrated into the core algorithm.

  2. The content should be original.
  3. Use high-quality images.

2. Penguin
Launch Date: April 24, 2012
Effects: Irrelevant links or Spammy links.
The main aim of the Penguin update is to penalize the websites having irrelevant and unnatural links coming up high in search results. Before this update, the links coming from any website also elevate rank in the search results. Unlike Panda update, Penguin update is a part of Google core Algorithm and works efficiently in the real time.

3. Humming Bird
Launch Date: August 22, 2013
Effects: Low-Quality content and keyword stuffing

Effects: Poor UX, Lack of Query Specific relevance features.
Google Calls RankBrain Algorithm is the third most important ranking factor. It is a part of Google Hummingbird algorithm update. This update helps Google understand the meaning behind the queries and serves best matching results to the user. Recently Google confirmed the update, Fred algorithm targets the sites which violate the Google webmaster guidelines. The Majorly effected by this update are blogs with the low-quality post that appear to be created mostly for the purpose of traffic and ad revenue.

9. Maccabees
Launch Date: December 12, 2017
Effects: Sites targetting many keyword permutations
The main aim of this Google algorithm update is to target sites which uses massive arrays of keyword permutations. For example, the travel sites which targets all the destinations they serve and add landing pages for {Destination subname}+{Activity name}and sometimes even go beyond that. If they are service-based, they would target {city name}+{service A} and then {city name}+{service B}and so on.
